A pre-wedding shoot in Bangalore is an unfair gift to the photographer. Within four hours of the city, you have lakes, monsoon-green forests, granite hills, palace courtyards, coffee estates, beaches, and architectural studios – every single one of them photographable. The catch is that most couples pick a location based on Instagram rather than what their specific shoot requires: the time of year, the wardrobe, the chemistry, the access permissions, the light at 5:30 AM.
This is our internal location list at WeddingClickz – the ones we genuinely shoot at, ranked by what they're best for, with permit notes, ideal times, and pitfalls.
1. Lalbagh Botanical Garden – Bangalore
Old-world greenhouses, century-old trees, sloping lawns. Soft, even light through most of the morning. Best for couples who want a documentary, walk-and-talk feel.
Best time: 6:00–9:00 AM, weekdays. Permits: Yes, required for tripods/professional gear via the Horticulture Department. Cost: ₹2,500–₹5,000 plus camera fee.
2. Cubbon Park & Bangalore High Court Surroundings
Heritage red buildings, wide tree-lined avenues, and magic-hour shadows. A classic Bangalore aesthetic that ages well in albums.
Best time: 6:00–8:00 AM. Permits: Required for commercial photography from BBMP. Watch out for: Cars and joggers after 8 AM.
3. Bangalore Palace
Tudor architecture, manicured gardens, ornate interiors. The closest in-city option to a "destination palace" feel.
Best time: Late afternoon for warm interior light. Cost: ₹15,000–₹35,000 photography permit. Best for: Royal/regal-styled shoots, sherwani & lehenga.
4. Nandi Hills & Skandagiri
An hour from the city. Cloud cover at sunrise, granite outcrops, and a horizon that swallows the camera. Iconic for couples who want drama and silhouettes.
Best time: Pre-dawn, reach by 5:30 AM. Permits: Entry fee + commercial-shoot permission from Forest Department. Pitfall: Crowds after sunrise – book the slot, not the location.
5. Hebbal Lake / Yelahanka
Wide skies, jacaranda blooms in March–April, easy access. Underrated for the "in-city but feels rural" look.
Best time: Sunrise. Permits: Light-touch but BBMP/lake authority should be informed. Best for: Soft, candid couple portraits.
6. Coorg Coffee Estates (3.5 hours)
Mist-wrapped plantations, bungalow homestays, monsoon greens. The most consistently photographed pre-wedding location for Bangalore couples – and rightly so.
Best time: June–September for monsoon mood, December–February for clear blue skies. Cost: Stay at a private estate ₹8,000–₹25,000/night, photography included or nominal. Pitfall: Leech season is real in monsoon. Plan footwear.
7. Chikmagalur (4 hours)
Mullayanagiri ridges, Hirekolale lake, coffee blossoms in February. Slightly less crowded than Coorg, more rugged.
Best time: February (coffee blossom is briefly white and fragrant) and post-monsoon September. Best for: Couples wanting raw landscape and movement.
8. Hampi (6 hours)
UNESCO World Heritage. Boulder fields, ancient temples, golden stone at sunrise. The most cinematic location within reach of Bangalore.
Best time: November–February only. Permits: ASI permission required for commercial shoots. Pitfall: Tourist crowds – we shoot at first light to keep frames clean.
9. Gokarna & Murudeshwar (8 hours)
Beach pre-weddings without the Goa crowd. Cleaner sand, rocky outcrops, and the option of the colossal Murudeshwar statue as a backdrop.
Best time: November–February. Best for: Couples who want the ocean without travelling to Goa.
10. Mysore Palace & Surroundings
Royal architecture, sprawling gardens, Brindavan Gardens for water features.
Best time: October–February. Permits: Required and structured – budget 2 weeks. Best for: Heritage-styled, formal pre-weddings.
11. Hesaraghatta Grasslands & Lake
India's "African savanna" 30 km from the city. Tall yellow grass in winter, wide skies, no built environment in frame. A favourite for couples wanting an editorial feel without flying anywhere.
Best time: December–February at sunrise/sunset. Pitfall: Forest Department closures – check before driving out.
12. Nrityagram (Hesaraghatta)
Indian classical dance village built in mud and stone by architect Gerard da Cunha. Earthy, intimate, story-rich.
Best time: Mornings. Permits: Strict – book through the institution well in advance. Best for: Couples with a south-Indian or classical aesthetic.
13. The Tamara, Coorg & Evolve Back Resorts
If you want the Coorg landscape with concierge-level shoot logistics, these resorts have walking trails, infinity pools, plantation paths, and bungalow interiors – often included with a 2-night stay.
Best for: Couples who want a stay-and-shoot weekend without renting separate locations.
14. Heritage Studios in Bangalore (Indoor)
Bangalore now has 15+ professional pre-wedding studios with multiple sets – royal Indian, French Riviera, vintage cafe, monochrome editorial. Ideal when you want a controlled, weather-proof shoot in 4 hours flat.
Cost: ₹12,000–₹40,000 per 4-hour slot. Best for: Couples short on time or shooting in monsoon.
15. Goa (Drive 12 hrs / Fly 1 hr)
Worth the trip for couples who want both beach and Portuguese architecture. The Goa pre-wedding has aged better than its reputation suggests – Cabo de Rama, Divar Island, Aldona, Fontainhas all offer textures Bangalore can't.
Best time: November–February. Pitfall: Crowded beaches in peak season – go inland.

See Our Pre-Wedding WorkHow to Pick the Right Location for Your Shoot
- Match the location to your wardrobe – a Banarasi against Hampi's stone is iconic; a tuxedo at Lalbagh is awkward.
- Choose one location per shoot day, not three. The travel kills the light and your faces show it.
- Always recce the location. Photos online are 2–3 years old; trees fall, signage appears, gates close.
- Book light, not coordinates. The best location at the wrong time of day is unusable.
- Build in a wardrobe change buffer – 30 minutes minimum between looks.
